چکیده
Abstract It is particularly appealing for efficient active terahertz (THz) modulators using photonic structures to enhance light–matter interaction. Here, an optical controlled THz modulator proposed that combines lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots with subwavelength metallic split-ring resonators (SRRs) providing field enhancement. The modulation depth reaches 60.3%, which approximately 3 times larger than the PbS film without SRRs (as reference) in frequency range of 0.1–1.1 THz. Such significant enhanced mainly due local enhancement caused by SRRs, consistent simulation result.

Tunable split-ring resonators for nonlinear negative-index metamaterials.
We study experimentally the dynamic tunability and self-induced nonlinearity of split-ring resonators incorporating variable capacitance diodes. We demonstrate that the eigenfrequencies of the resonators can be tuned over a wide frequency range, and significantly, we show that the self-induced nonlinear effects observed in the varactor-loaded split-ring resonator structures can appear at relati...
متن کاملCapacitor-loaded split ring resonators as tunable metamaterial components
Transmission through split ring resonator SRR structures loaded with capacitors is investigated both experimentally and numerically. Magnetic resonance frequency m is observed to shift to lower frequencies when capacitors are mounted to the various capacitive regions of the SRR structure. The amount of change in m depends strongly on the place where the capacitors are loaded. The magnetic reson...

We have designed, fabricated and measured high-Q λ/2 coplanar waveguide microwave resonators whose resonance frequency is made tunable with magnetic field by inserting a DC-SQUID array (including 1 or 7 SQUIDs) inside. Their tunability range is 30% of the zero field frequency. Their quality factor reaches up to 3×10. We present a model based on thermal fluctuations that accounts for the dependa...

We report transient absorption saturation measurements on lead sulfide colloidal nanocrystals at the first and second exciton energies and fit the results to a model incorporating intraband and interband relaxation processes. We study in detail the Auger recombination from the first excited state, which takes place when more than one electron-hole pair is excited in a dot. We find an Auger coef...
